the verdict: the milan marathon

Overall: 8/10

Best bit: this is a perfectly sized marathon; probably good to have a go at now, before it gets too busy. It still feels like a a big city marathon, but you are not tripping over people at the start, nor do you get stuck in a bottle neck on every turn, like you might in Paris or Berlin. But there are enough people for a really good atmosphere. Well organised, with good refreshments and friendly volunteers. Even the toilets were ok! Aaaaand - FLAT AS A PANCAKE!

Worst bit: can’t think of one. Maybe the crowds, but this feels a little unfair. It was freezing cold and raining non-stop - why would you stand outside to watch it?

The scenic route: fantastic, running through streets lined with lots of beautiful buildings and lots of beautiful (if totally bemused) people.

Hill Factor: Zero. There weren’t any. This is a fast course, made for good times.
