The challenge is to raise as much money as possible to help improve teaching and medical facilities for the children in The Village of Hope, in Tanzania, who have been orphaned by AIDS. Once we have raised a certain amount of money, we will order supplies to be shipped out to Tanzania. We will then follow them out and help with any practical improvements to the facilities that we can; the school, clinic and orphanage are currently run with skeleton staff of volunteers, with very little support.

I hope to raise this money by asking people to sponsor me to run a-marathon-a-month throughout 2012 (eeeek!)

All the money raised will go directly on funding education supplies, improvements to the school infrastructure, medical equipment, teaching salaries and so on. The trip itself and the cost of the marathons will be self-funded. So, for example, if someone were to donate £3, the whole £3 will go to the school and say, pay for a textbook. Any donations are hugely, hugely appreciated.
